- Kindergarten Teacher 1975 - 1980 in Chesterfield County, Virginia. A leave of absence was in order when my first child became ill shortly after birth, and I found myself expecting a second baby when my infant was three months old.
- Our family moved to Roanoke, Virginia -God's country, in 1980, and I accepted a position in the Trust Department of Dominion Bankshares. I quickly became a Trust Officer working with CEO's as a Trustee representative for their company retirement plans. My territory was Richmond, Norfolk, Roanoke, and Northern Virginia.
- After working for Dominion Bankshares for 8 years, I accepted a position as Assistant Vice President of Trust/Employee Benefits in Raleigh. My job description was the same, and my territory was primarily eastern NC. After 2 years with NationsBank, I joined BB&T as a Vice President to help them create their new Employee Benefits Department headquartered in Raleigh. We built a brand new Corporate Employee Benefits Team from scratch. My team serviced Charlotte and western NC.
- I joined the Eqitable/Axa team in 1994. I solicited my own accounts, corporate, as well as individuals, for retirement, private investments, and insurance products. This was my absolute favorite position. I loved my work from the beginning to the end of every day! I established some of the best relationships I could ever had hoped for when I was representing AXA. My territory was NC and VA. There was an illness in the family that led me to my next career. . . .
- My husband and I own Raleighwood Cinema Grill (www.raleighwoodmovies.com), and I decided to work with my husband, since I could have flexible hours, and do most of my work from home. I have been doing that now for about five years. I am in a position that I can work whatever business I choose, and for some odd reason - I have always wanted to be in the real estate business. I have been in love with houses since I moved to Roanoke in 1980, and have studied houses and floor plans for the fun of it. I love decorating, and have always been in heaven helping my friends find "just the right house". So, I now have my license to sell real estate!! I will complete my Broker's class March 1, 2006. I am so excited to now be "licensed" to do what has always been fun for me.

- I am a very determined person, and I thrive on accomplishments. I love to set goals, and achieve them. I graduated from High School a year early, and I completed my four year degree in Education at Longwood College, Farmville, VA in 2 1/2 years. I went straight through, taking as many classes as I could take each summer. I started June 1972, the week of my HS graduation, and finished December of 1974. My first teaching job started January of 1975. I consider that an achievement, beause I could then "get on with my life". I was the youngest teacher in my school - 20 years old. I owned my car, which I made payments on, and lived in a one bedroom apartment, which I paid my own rent. I bought my own groceries, and did not ask my parents for money! That was an achievment!!! Back then, I just thought that is what you did.
- I believe I was a fabulous Kindergarten teacher. I loved my children, and gave my all. I could tell you stories, but I won't. I was sad to leave my teaching career. I had an unusual situation, with my principal. There was a child in my classroom that was being abused. He threatened me that he would see to it lost my job if I reported it to Social Services. I did report it, and weeks later left on maternity leave. My principal and I were not on speaking terms afterwards, and I then left permanently to care for my child.
- My third achievement was my banking career. I left teaching, came to a new city, Roanoke, VA, and seemed to be in just the right place for me. I loved the work I did, and loved working with people. I obtained my CRPS (Certified Retirement Plan Specialist) from UNC - Charlotte, which helped me move ahead in my career. I enjoyed the relationship mangement business, and the "corporate game" was not so difficult when you refuse to play it. Honesty and hard work goes a long way when you are up against people in the coporate structure. You may not always make it to the top, but you always have the respect of the people you worked with!! I am proud to have maintained that during my 20 years with my Trust/Investments career in three banks and, and Equitable/AXA.
- My fourth achievement category is very personal. My father was 58, and worked at Union Camp Corporation in Franklin, VA. The week of Christmas, 1992, a compressor, mounted to the ceiling in the plant, fell on him and damaged his back and legs. My father had 5 surgeries in 1993, and with unsuccessul pain management, took his life. That was my first year with BB&T. My father's death was in January, and my husband of 16 years and I separated in May. I became a single mom with no financial help, raising two young teenagers, and dealing with the loss of my father, and the trauma of the way he left us. I survived my challenges, although I thought I would never make it from one day to the next. - That year is probably my biggest personal achievement. Today, my son is a student at Duke University, and my daughter is a pharmaceutical sales representative for Eli Lilly in VA Beach. I am so proud of both of them for surviving the same losses- the unexpected loss of their grandfather, and shortly after the absence of their father.
- Now I am on my 5th achievement, and I really think that achievement has to do with accepting and being open to a new life! Having a stressful career, raising two teenagers, and having no help, financially or otherwise, was the pitts! I was determined to have a new life for myself, and was open to meeting people. Fortunately for me, I married my "soul mate" in 1997, and his name is Jim Keane. Jim owned Raleighwood Cinema Grill, and now I do also! (You know how this real estate thing works when you get married!! Just kidding!) Well, Raleighwood has been our challenge together. A business of your own is always a challenge. I have learned so much. We love Raleighwood. It is a part of us, and our lives. We hope our customers love it as much as we do.
I will continue to be involved with Raleighwood, but I am now ready to explore my passion - Real Estate. You can see, if you have read what I have written about myself, I have had challenges, and am not afraid of them. I will relentlessly work for you, if you hire me to be your agent. It will be my pleasure, and my dream come true, to do the best job I can do for you!
